Wrapping up

Over the course of the year I have not posted the most amount of the blogs in the world, in fact I have posted maybe half of all the blogs that we have been supposed to post. This is mostly due to my own forgetfulness and laziness, I like to think that I have mostly corrected this failure to meet the standards as my parents rode me like a donkey until I did correct this and this is why I started only recently to complete all of my blogs. I have improved my writing skills by correcting the way my writing flows and how I express things as well as my grammar which was sub par before we started our blogging experience."This **** is off the chain!" A quote from Paul Cade, I think my quote relates directly to my blog by being a perfect way to describe my blog as being really cool. But in all seriousness I enjoyed my writing my blog and I believe when i did write the blog i brougt a sense of optimism and happiness to the table and i would love to continue having theses experiences throughtout my whole high school career.

Most memorable assignment

Honestly I can't say I'm very proud with the quality work I have been doing this year but of all the assignments that I have been doing mediocre work for I think that my favorite is my analysis of the poem "Lobsters". Even though my essay did appear very smart allecky I meant no disrespect I just wanted to show how the poem has been over analyzed and there was nothing new for me to show about it. I just thought I was being mighty clever by talking about what I was talking about and I still think it wasn't a bad enough subject to deserve a rewrite but anyway I was and am very proud of my analysis of the poem "Lobsters".

Poetry Experience

Poetry is not a specific type of English that I will be studying into during my life, but the best experience I have had with poetry is definitely my discovery of Shel Silverstein. His poetry may not save people's lives or change people into the essence of creativity, but damnit his poems deserve some awards of some sort. His poetry is silly and it makes me laugh which is all I need to call it literary excellence, i mean he wrote a poem about three men adventuring in a flying shoe, and he wrote a backwards poem, thats just plain cool.
I'm not saying i specifically found him myself, someone showed him to me, but since that fateful day when my brother handed me Where the Sidewalk Ends, by: Shel Silverstein I haven't stopped reading Shel Silverstein. His poems lent to me a humor standard that I still like to be met in a poem, story, book, or even movie and that has altogether changed me into a happier individual and i am glad for it.
Currently poetry is not my favorite form of writing, actually I am slightly repulsed by most poetry altogether, but occasionally I can enjoy a good piece of poetry, such as Acquainted With the Night by: Robert Frost, which is my favorite poem by Robert Frost mostly because I feel sympathy for the darker side of Frost shown inside this poem but maybe that is just what he was going for. Ironically i actually wrote poetry about how much i dislike poetry for a project for school, which will probably forever be my favorite piece of poetry.

conflict in romeo and juliet

One type of conflict used frequently is the interpersonal conflicts, such as the one that rages inside Juliet's brain as she determines which is a greater tragedy, the death of Tybalt or the banishment of Romeo. As shown as Juliet says: "Is Romeo slaughtered, and is Tybalt dead? My dear loved cousin, and my dearer lord?" (3.3.65). The conflict develops the readers idea of what is going on inside Juliet's head and lets the reader empathize more with the Capulets instead of just the Montagues.
Interpersonal conflict is a big part of society and the lives we live today, for example a would-be axe murderer could not do the thing that he wishes to do, due to the conflict inside his head about whether or not it will a good thing or not. Interpersonal conflict is dealt with in several for example a person's conflict could be affecting their mood in a negative way so we just stick him full of happy pills and suddenly the conflict is resolved for the better. I personally just try to avoid these types of conflicts and just stay on the straight and narrow.

Great expectations

I personally enjoyed my read through of the book great expectations, i can see how someone wouldn't enjoy it though as it has a not very happy ending with hard to understand phrasing and words. I found the style interesting, retro, and is one of the main reasons i enjoyed the book so much. The characters were also interesting and easy to connect with, case in point Joe, he was a rather slow but lovable character who over the course of the book was almost constantly doing nice things to and for Pip. Even the "bad" characters like
Orlick make the book altogether more enjoyable and the book wouldn't be quite so good if they weren't in it.
I had read in mad scrambles to finish hundred page blocks of catch up reading, this might be due to procrastination techniques and my absences in school. But if i wasn't rushing to get some reading done then i would read every night at about 10 oclock most usually in my bed. I finished the book at my usual time when i get my reading done and i finished in my bed. I enjoyed the reading at home it was nice although not having teachers there to explain certain phrases and words can be sort of a pain, i also tried reading once in my family room and that was not a very couth decision as i had to read sentences or paragraphs over again. But my overall comprehension probably wasn't too affected by reading at home as we talked about the reading every day in class.

great expectations photo

This photo represents how Estella and Miss Havisham are in relations to Pip, they seem to be not even comprehending that Pip isn't happy in this photo and Miss Havisham seems to be even enjoying it. And why on earth would Miss Havisham enjoy doing this? It is definitely related to her having her own heart broken. She is saying that if she can't have it no one can.

Great Expectations: Questions

The only question i really have about Dickens' book is about uncle Pumblechook, in what relation is he to Pip? I saw it as Pumblechook being Joe's uncle but im not sure about it and it would greatly help me enjoy the book if only i knew the answer to this question.
